To promote the development of circular economy and sustainable agriculture, Nanhua University held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement with Dipo Plastic Machinery Co., LTD. on December 30th (Tuesday) at 1:30 PM in the 325 Dream Base on the third floor of Sungkyunkwan Building on campus. This formally marks the start of their industry-academia collaboration. Both parties will focus on the black soldier fly circular economy, combining academic research capabilities with practical industry experience to jointly explore application models for agricultural waste resource utilization and low-carbon treatment technologies, injecting new momentum into the development of sustainable industries.

This signing ceremony was hosted by the Master's Program in Sustainable Green Technology at Nanhua University, co-organized by the Nanhua University College of Science and Technology's USR project "Promoting Carbon Neutrality in Local Community Agriculture," and the Office of Industry-Academia Collaboration and Career Development at Nanhua University, showcasing the university's cross-departmental capabilities in integrating teaching, research, and social practice. During the signing ceremony, representatives from both parties—Director Chou Chien-ming of the Sustainable Green Technology Master's Program at Nanhua University and Chairman Kuo Wu-chi of Dipo Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd.—signed a cooperation agreement, symbolizing the official launch of industry-academia collaboration to promote circular economy and innovative applications.

The black soldier fly circular economy is considered an emerging model that combines environmental benefits with industrial potential. It can effectively treat organic waste through biotransformation mechanisms and generate diverse reuse directions such as feed and fertilizer. With Taiwan's complete ban on feeding pigs with kitchen waste starting in 2027, the kitchen waste problem has become a challenge faced by society and industry. Black soldier flies can play a key role in transforming the environmental burden into an opportunity for resource recycling, truly "turning trouble into enlightenment," responding to the core spirit of circular economy and sustainable development.

Nanhua University possesses unique advantages in black soldier fly-related research and teaching. It is currently the only university in Taiwan offering a professional course on black soldier fly research, and has long been committed to teaching and research combining the biological characteristics, circular applications, and sustainable agriculture of black soldier flies. In the future, Nanhua University will assist in establishing a foundation for the technical verification and educational promotion of the black soldier fly larvae circular economy through relevant courses, research projects, and USR (Universal Society for Responsibility) practice sites. Dipo Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd. will share its practical experience in equipment design and industrial application, promoting technology implementation and model optimization, and deepening the substantive content of industry-academia cooperation.

Chen Po-ching, Dean of the College of Science and Technology at Nanhua University, stated that in recent years, the College of Science and Technology has adopted a development strategy of "conducting academic research oriented towards industry, cultivating local expertise and expanding internationally," and has continuously invested in low-carbon agriculture and circular economy-related issues through USR projects. This collaboration will introduce black soldier flies into circular economy practice and teaching research, which will not only verify the feasibility of the technology but also provide students with a field for interdisciplinary learning and practical application, deepening the educational content of "learning by doing."

Kuo Wu-chi, Chairman of Dipo Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd., stated that the company has deeply recognized the importance of environmental responsibility during its development process, and the black soldier fly larvae circular economy is a key direction that balances industrial needs and sustainability goals. He pointed out that through cooperation with Nanhua University, they hope to combine academic research capabilities with practical business experience to jointly promote technology optimization and application diffusion, creating more concrete and feasible solutions for the circular economy.

Nanhua University President Kao Chun-hsiung stated that Nanhua University has long focused on "life education" and "environmental sustainability" as its core development directions, actively responding to the transformation needs of society and industry. He pointed out that the black soldier fly larvae circular economy combines environmental protection and resource reuse value. This cooperation with Dipo Plastic Machinery Co., LTD. is an important practice of the university combining industrial strength to implement the concept of sustainable development. The university will also fully support the promotion of related teaching and research.

In the future, Nanhua University and Dipo Plastic Machinery Co., LTD. will continue to deepen their cooperation, exploring feasible paths for the development of the circular economy and sustainable agriculture through industry-academia exchanges, research collaboration, and practical verification, demonstrating the university's key role in responding to social needs and promoting sustainable transformation.
